Avery D. Alexander, M.D.

Refractive Surgery Specialist

Dr. Alexander is a national leader and pioneer in laser vision correction and sight restoration procedures. He has been performing refractive surgery in the Fox Valley for 30 years. Refractive surgery is designed to reduce or eliminate dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses, and it is the focus of Dr. Alexander’s practice. He was among the first eye surgeons in the nation to perform LASIK vision correction and he performed the very first LASIK procedure in Wisconsin. He also served as a clinical investigator leading to FDA approval for the VISX excimer laser, one of the earliest LASIK technologies. In addition, after FDA approval, Dr. Alexander was the first physician in Wisconsin and the 2nd in the United States, to use the state-of-the art Allegretto Wave® 400 Eye-Q laser with advanced eye tracking for vision correction.

During his career, he has performed several thousand LASIK and lens implant procedures, constantly refining the current techniques to achieve superior patient outcomes. His search for ever better technologies and vision outcomes led to his development of UltraSight® LASIK, a blade-free all-laser approach to customized LASIK. He also developed PermaClear® Sight Restoration for patients over 40 or patients with cataracts who want to eliminate their dependence on bifocals, reading glasses or contacts. Dr. Alexander’s skill and expertise places him in an elite group of leaders in refractive surgery.

As technology continues to advance, Dr. Alexander will remain in the forefront of medical science, bringing patients the safest, most effective procedures available to improve their vision and their lives.

Dear Community,

I am moved by how you’ve entrusted me with your care over these years. What do I mean by over the years? The 35 years of AEI’s dedication to the proven advances in medicine, yes—yet each day can also be counted in determined steps, rallying teams, fierce conviction of purpose, self-belief, and courage in performance and outcome. I am proud of what we have accomplished, enacting what I have and continue to wish: the finest care possible for you from the first time we meet and for years to come. Without your faith in me, AEI could not have assisted in enhancing the quality of life for patients as a provider of unparalleled care and visual outcomes. You, my courageous friends, know the tenor of belief that defines or is a precondition of action. We act in concert to have this history of sight. How we can transform each other's lives—for the better—is so meaningful to me. And for AEI, that inspires us to the specialties in procedure and care we’ve established. I am deeply grateful for your faith in me as your provider, and I continue to believe in the passion and promise of excellent care.
