If you are not a candidate for one of our LASIK procedures there may be alternative procedures available to help you achieve your goal of life without glasses or contacts:
With a procedure called photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, mild to moderate nearsightedness can be corrected. PRK differs from LASIK in the portion of the cornea where the laser treatment takes place. The same precise technology and laser treatment is used, but it is applied to the corneal surface. PRK has a slightly longer recovery time, but the result leaves more corneal tissue and similar vision results are expected.
If you are extremely nearsighted or farsighted, you may have been told you’re not a candidate for LASIK. VeraClear™ may offer a solution. During this outpatient procedure, a micro-thin lens selected especially for your individual vision correction is implanted. The lens is placed between your eye’s natural lens and your cornea. This lens changes the way the eye focuses light on the retina. Although intended to be permanent, this lens can be removed so the procedure can be reversed. For some patients, VeraClear™ can provide the right level of quality vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
